Saturday 20 October 2012 - Lanseria - Upington

We arrived at the airport at 8 AM. There was a bit of early morning fog and low clouds forecasted for the morning. Thats why we decided for a slightly later departure. We finally got airborne at 10 AM after refuelling the aircraft and a long taxi out from Lanseria. Our routing took us over spectacular Megalies berge and then westbound over scenic farmland towards Upington. We made a pit stop at Kuruman which is a small airfield midway surrounded by iron ore and manganese mines. We arrived 3 PM in Upington and were picked up by the lovely staff of the River Bank lodge, which is located right on the edge of the Orange river. We then went for a walkabout to the local supermarket to get our supplies for a great braai (braai = barbecue in Afrikaans). It was a great meat fest and we all went to bed by 10 PM. Early sleep for a great flying day tomorrow.
